Foti: "No one wants to centralize cohesion funds."

ROME (ITALPRESS) – "In yesterday's debate on cohesion funds, none of the speakers argued that they should be centralized and managed by the state. In truth, given the need for greater involvement of municipalities, the author stated that the decision rests with the regions." This was stated by the Minister for European Affairs, the NRRP and Cohesion Policies, Tommaso Foti .

“Not only that, but, since subsidiarity is a pillar of cohesion, I have highlighted for my part that vertical subsidiarity, precisely because of multilevel governance, is much more significant than horizontal subsidiarity, for which the involvement of civil society is still partial,” the minister continues.

“Moreover, the author himself, in recent months, has consistently expressed, on behalf of the Government, the position of excluding cohesion funds from the so-called 'country plans', hypothesized by the European Commission for the 2028-2034 programming period” , concludes Foti .
